For more than 60 years, this steakhouse has offered quality cuts served in a classic upscale atmosphere. In Short
Cherry and mahogany walls, white tablecloths and terrazzo floors combine 1930s swank with today's technology and obsession with prime cuts of beef, dry aged on-site. The 1,800 varieties of wine that line the walls of the wine room features a good price range. Steak, lamb or veal entrees vary from 10-ounce prime strip to 26-ounce porterhouse; seafood includes market-price, live and cold-water lobster. The popular steakhouse salad features sliced fruit and candied almonds. ”   Contributor – 8/2/2006

EXCELLENT “ Great by all standards. The reception, the ambiance, the service, the food. Pappas Bros is one of the very few that writes the standard. Many a restaurant can learn quite a bit from this wonderfully managed establishment. Could get expensive when choosing from the extensive wine list, but not necessarily if you simply choose a moderate bottle. The Lobster Bisque, yummm, THE Steak (NY Strip is our favorite), The Desert, can u say MOON-PIE (enough for four). There is little that this place does wrong. HIGHLY RECOMENDED. Have been over a dozen times and cannot find a fault. Can't wait to go back again! ”   azeee – 2/8/2009

Best in Texas “ Their reputation as the best steakhouse in town is well-deserved. Elegant without being fussy or uptight, the service was understated but attentive and the food...WOW. The fried oyster appetizer was the best oysters I've ever had and the ribeye steak (this is Texas, and that's our steak) was perfection ”   empresscat – 8/16/2008

Superior Steaks by Paulla J. at InsiderPages “ This is the best restaurant in Dallas. I have never had such wonderful steak and lobster. Everything was superior here, including the wonderful service. It is VERY pricey but, to me, well worth the once-a-year splurge. I've never understood the location, but I've also never let it stop me. ”   Citysearch User – 4/15/2008

Upcsale dining with private wine room by Curtis C. at InsiderPages “ This is one of the best places in Dallas to have an upscale steak dinner. You can have a private party in a small wine room. They have a cigar room and a huge wine selection on the menu. ”   Citysearch User – 3/3/2008

The best steak in Dallas “ My wife and I have ventured to most steakhouses out there and we have concluded that Pappas serves our favorite steak, hands down. The flavor is unsurpassed. The bisque is always favored by my wife and their salad with avocado ranch is always tasty. The au gratin potatoes are probably our favorite side. For dessert, don't miss their gooey pecan pie. The atmosphere is high end and you can dress up or down to your liking. Pappas is one of our fine dining staples. ”   br549007 – 2/28/2008

One of the Best Steaks in Dallas! “ This has to be one of the top 3 steakhouses in Dallas. I've eaten at Pappas Bros on several occasions and it has never disappointed. The service is good, the wine selection is decent. The sides are wonderful and I can't say enough about the steaks. Check it out!! ”   steak_guy – 7/20/2007

Really, the best steakhouse in Dallas “ This restaurant is truly one of the best in the US. The fried oysters are amazing and I don't like fried oysters, and so is the lobster bisque. The wait staff is excellent and the wait for a table with a reservation is very acceptable. Amazing wine list, although a bit pricey and the steaks are awesome. I've eaten here many times and none of the people I've been with had anything but positive comments about the food. This place could break the bank, it's not cheap so plan ahead so you can enjoy everything they offer. ”   mrcheffy – 4/25/2007

Best Steak I've Eaten “ Pappas Bros. is a lovely place to eat, and their filet is better than any I've tried (I've tried many but not all in Dallas). The food is deadly, of course, but great if you're seeking to indulge. They butter their steaks, which is fine by me because butter is so delicious. And if anything is wrong, they have always seemed eager to make it right. Sometimes they overcook, for example, but they will sweep the offending cut away and promptly replace it. The creme brulee is wonderful and covered with berries. The cheesecake is also a standout. The Caesar salad is very nice as well, but I haven't developed a fondness for any of the sides although I have tried most. Overall, I would say that dinner is well worth the money for a special occasion (I got enaged here not long ago), or it can brighten up a Tuesday. ”   cmichael1126 – 8/8/2006

good but there are better options “ my last visit here was kind of a letdown; i was served a very fatty piece of veal that i could not even cut through, and the replacement chop was subsequently undercooked. i realize that most people don't go to high end steakhouses for their health, but the food here is extremely rich in comparison to other similar establishments. even without the undercooked veal i still say this place is overrated and overpriced. ”   dallas_foodie – 8/7/2006
