If a family member approaches you with the idea of starting a company together, then it’s important that you really think about the prospect of going into business with the relative in question before reaching a decision.

According to one old saying, it’s a bad idea to mix business with pleasure – but what about mixing business with family? Plenty of people are quick to assume that it’s never a good idea to go into business with a family member, fearing that the pressures and circumstances of the business could negatively impact the relationship, if not destroy it altogether. After all, most have probably heard horror stories of family business ventures gone wrong, resulting in brothers not speaking or fathers suing their own sons. However, even though many would agree that going into business with a family member is a bad idea, there are always exceptions to each general rule.

According to licensed professional counselor Elliott Connie, going into business with a family member can actually be a good idea as long as you do your part to make it a good idea. What does this mean? Under the right circumstances, a business venture with a family member can be successful both financially and emotionally. However, in order for this to happen, people need to choose their business partners wisely. If you’ve got a brother who has never managed to stay at a job for more than a couple of months at a time, then chances are, he’s not going to make a good business partner. At the same time, if you’ve got a sister who is sharp, reliable, and notably hardworking, then a business relationship with her might work out well in the long run.

If a family member approaches you with the idea of starting a company together, then it’s important that you really think about the prospect of going into business with the relative in question before reaching a decision. Think about this family member’s personality and track record, and ask yourself if you really think that a business relationship is going to work. Chances are, you’re intelligent enough to recognize the flaws inherent in your potential business partner that might prevent a financial venture from being a good idea. So it mostly becomes a matter of facing the person in question and being honest about how you feel. You should never feel obligated to agree to something with which you aren’t comfortable simply to avoid hurting a family member’s feelings. Instead, you should communicate openly with the family member and explain why you don’t think the situation is likely to work. The family member might initially be hurt, but hopefully he will come to appreciate your honesty and accept your decision.

On the other hand, it can be a great idea to go into business with a family member if you truly believe that the person in question would make a good business partner. One key component of a successful business relationship is trust, and if trust is something that already exists between you and a certain relative, then you’re already one step ahead of the game. However, Elliott Connie does warn that a good business partnership also involves the ability to take criticism from one another and not allow emotions to cloud your joint decision-making skills. Therefore, when evaluating the idea of a business partnership with a particular family member, you should also ask yourself whether or not you think that person has the ability to be objective about business decisions without allowing feelings to get in the way. At the same time, you should also question your own capacity to do so in terms of your potential partner. If, at the end of the day, you’re confident that you’ll both be able to achieve that perfect separation of business and emotion, then there’s no reason why business-wise, you and a family member wouldn’t be a perfect match.

After all is said and done, the key to making a wise decision about a family-based business venture is logic coupled with honesty. By trusting your instincts about your potential business partner and allowing logic to help dictate your decision, you’ll be doing your part to ensure that business doesn’t get in the way of family, or vice versa.

Silk’n is a relatively new laser hair removal system designed for home use. It involves the use of pulsed light to stop hair growth. Intense pulsed light (IPL) has been used by dermatologists for years to remove unwanted hair. According to American Academy of Dermatology, pulsed light stops hair growth by sending energy through the skin that is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) present in the shaft of the hair follicles. This destroys the hair follicles and disables hair growth for long periods of time.

Dr. Tina Alster, director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery in Washington, D.C., and proponent of the Silk’n system, explains that the new system works similarly to those used in-office, but at a lower energy setting. And with a much lower price tag.

The treatment sessions, using a device called the Silk’n SensEpil, are actually performed by you in the privacy and comfort of your own home. You apply moderate pressure to your skin with the handheld device, and the SensEpil emits a pulse of light that targets the hair follicles in that area.

Multiple treatments with the device are required in order to achieve the best results. Hair grows in cycles that include growth, resting and shedding. Since it’s only during the growth phase that hair follicles can be affected by pulsed light, it is necessary to treat the same area until all the hair follicles in that area have gone through this phase (this usually takes 18 to 24 months). Generally, an improvement is seen after each treatment session. When the system is used as directed, the makers of the Silk’n SensEpil claim to be able to achieve long-term hair removal by stopping the hair growth cycle entirely.

Who is it for?

Because the Silk’n system requires a contrast in color between the hair and surrounding skin in order to be effective, the treatment works best on individuals with dark hair and relatively light skin. Individuals with naturally dark skin or a suntan are not good candidates for the Silk’n hair removal system. Silk’n is also not effective on blond, gray, white or red hair, so people with lighter body hair are advised to try other removal methods.

Additionally, individuals with certain medical conditions should not use the Silk’n system. These conditions include pregnancy, recent use of steroids, a history of keloid scarring, sensitivity to light, epilepsy or any skin condition affecting the area of unwanted hair growth. You should ask your physician whether or not you are a good candidate for the Silk’n system before you decide to try it at home.

Benefits

As compared to other hair removal methods, including waxing, lasers and electrolysis, Silk’n offers unparalleled convenience and comfort. Delivering results similar to those achieved with electrolysis, the Silk’n system is actually much faster. Because a larger area may be treated with the Silk’n SensEpil in a single session than may be treated during an electrolysis session, fewer sessions are necessary to achieve your desired results.

The system is also extremely convenient, even for the time-challenged, since it can be performed in the comfort of your own home. And, unlike waxing, the Silk’n system is relatively painless (although you are likely to experience a sensation of heat or tingling) and doesn’t require you to bare it all in front of a stranger.

Risks

Although deemed by the FDA in 2008 to be safe and effective for at-home use under the direction of a physician, the Silk’n system is not completely without risk. Individuals with darker skin should not use the Silk’n hair removal system. When used on dark skin, the system may cause burning, scarring or hyperpigmentation.

Even if you are a good candidate, the Silk’n system still involves some risk. Although the device does include a cooling element, you will likely experience a sensation of heat, tingling or stinging during use. Some people experience redness and/or swelling after using the SensEpil, and occasionally bruising or blistering may occur. These situations usually involve only minimal discomfort and resolve themselves quickly.

Silk’n is also not intended to be used on the face. Use of the system on your face or neck could result in damage to your eyes or unwanted hair growth.

The Bottom Line

Let’s be frank—removing unwanted body hair is a pain… literally. A system that offers long-term results from the comfort and convenience of your own home is almost too good to be true. While the Silk’n system is certainly new, dermatologists on the whole seem to agree that it works well for those who are good candidates and involves minimal risk. Admittedly a bit pricey (but wouldn’t you expect it to be?), the Silk’n SensEpil still sounds like a dream come true for anyone who fits the profile and already spends hundreds of dollars a year on hair removal.

LumiFacial—What Is It?

One of two treatments performed using a Soli-Tone “photobiostimulation” device, the LumiFacial treatment involves the use of pure spectrum light energy and special currents to improve the skin’s appearance. Generally performed at a medical spa or dermatologist’s office, the LumiFacial is intended to address a number of skin problems, including acne, redness, hyperpigmentation and photo-aging (damage caused by prolonged exposure to the sun).

The LumiFacial treatment uses four different colors of light—blue, red, yellow and green—in combination. According to Silhouet-Tone, the company that manufactures the Soli-Tone device, each color offers its own benefits.

The blue light targets the skin’s outer layers to improve acne. It also affects the sebaceous glands (tiny glands below the skin’s surface that are responsible for oil production), producing a calming, regulating effect.

Green is primarily intended to reduce redness and slow melanin production. In individuals with hyperpigmentation, melanin (your skin’s natural pigment) is overproduced in certain areas, creating patches of skin that are darker than the surrounding areas.

Red light is used to increase collagen production, improve circulation and speed healing by increasing the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the treated areas. The yellow light is also used to promote healing by increasing lymphatic drainage and promoting detoxification.

Who Should Consider It?

The LumiFacial is primarily intended to treat individuals with mild to moderate acne, pigmentation problems or sun damage. Individuals with more serious skin conditions may be better served by another type of treatment. Because the procedure is non-invasive, it may also be a good option for individuals who may previously have avoided treatment for their conditions due to concerns about potential discomforts or long recovery times.

Benefits

First, the LumiFacial is completely pain-free. In fact, you may find yourself napping through the procedure. The treatment itself is simple—you lie on a table and a wrap-around panel is positioned around your face. The panel emits light waves for about 30 minutes, and then you go home. It’s that easy. Unlike similar treatments that damage the skin in order to force cell turnover, the LumiFacial simply encourages improvements in the skin by boosting collagen production, regulating oil and melanin production and promoting healing.

Second, the procedure is completely non-invasive. The panel used in the LumiFacial does not touch your skin and the skin’s surface remains intact—no injections, no scrubbing and no chemicals are involved. Practitioners say your skin will begin to improve immediately and improvements will continue for several months after your treatment has been completed. LumiFacial practitioners also boast long-lasting results, sometimes up to a year, after a client has completed a round of treatments.

Third, the treatment involves no downtime and is completed relatively quickly, usually within half an hour. Unlike chemical peels or laser resurfacing, the LumiFacial does not cause peeling or redness. This means that you can resume your normal activities immediately following your treatment.

Risks

The LumiFacial procedure seems to be extremely safe. In fact, no documented risks are associated with the types of light waves that are used during the LumiFacial treatment. Like most similar cosmetic procedures, though, the LumiFacial can be expensive, with individual sessions likely costing you $150 or more. Because the effects are cumulative, you will probably need more than one session in order to achieve the results you are hoping for. While your age, lifestyle and the severity of your condition will ultimately determine how many sessions are necessary, many LumiFacial practitioners recommend at least 6 to 10 sessions for optimal results.

The Bottom Line

If you’re the timid type when it comes to cosmetic procedures, the LumiFacial might be a great place to start. Totally painless, completely non-invasive and virtually risk-free, a LumiFacial offers the potential of improving your skin without the worry associated with comparable treatments. Granted, chemical peels or laser treatments are a better bet if you’re looking for big improvements. But the LumiFacial may do the trick if you only need a minor touch-up. Certainly intriguing if not yet well-documented, the LumiFacial sounds like a great excuse for a nap… and you may just wake up looking great.

We have found that the following products when used alone or in conjunction with one another can be extremely effective

Rob Angelino, founder of hair loss clinic HAIRLAB, a medical and natural hair restoration center located in Beverly Hills, California, talks about the different treatments that can be used to combat hair loss before you move to expensive transplant surgery:

At HAIRLAB, when a client comes in, we try various non-invasive techniques before we move to a hair transplant. These are often effective when used in conjunction with one another on a regular basis and don’t require a more expensive and invasive surgical procedure.

Even when we do the surgical hair transplant procedure, hair loss is an ongoing battle, and we usually inform our clients that they often have to come in for a second operation. We always recommend that a client uses some or all of the following alternatives after the procedure to combat the constant battle that is hair loss.

If you wish to try out some alternatives before moving to a hair transplant procedure, we have found that the following products when used alone or in conjunction with one another can be extremely effective. Let’s look at some hair treatments on the market today:

Laser Therapy: Also known as low level light therapy, or LLLT, uses a cold red laser and infrared technology to help stimulate your cells which increases blood flow and therefore hair regrowth. The laser penetrates the skin and hair follicles and gets the blood circulating much faster, which causes the hair to come back thicker and stronger. This is through a process known as PhotoBioStimulation, and we regularly recommend laser therapy as part of an overall hair treatment. You can purchase a stand-alone unit, a hand-held unit or go a salon regularly for treatment. The process increases circulation and promotes healthy hair. And we always recommend it both before and after surgery.

Rogaine: The off-brand name for Rogaine is Minoxidil. You apply it directly to your head and, like many products to fight hair loss, it increases the blood flow to your scalp to strengthen and regrow hair. Many people don’t like Rogaine because it sticky and must be applied twice a day, but new Rogaine Foam is preferred. It really is not entirely effective on its own, however. If used by itself, the hair that does regrow is often thin and wispy, but minoxidil is definitely effective when used in conjunction with other treatments.

Topical Stimulants: Some topical stimulants on the market that claim to stop DHT, and they are known as topical DHT blockers. Revivogin is a well-known topical product that claims to block DHT, and it works quite well. Nuhair is another product that combines DHT blockage with supplemental nourishment that also is effective. I’ve seen people get results with these products. It thickens the hair by penetrating follicles and cleaning them out. Stinging nettles, which is an herb that works on stimulating blood flow, is usually a main active ingredient. These products are not FDA-approved as they only claim to help thicken hair. They don’t claim to directly regrow hair, so results may vary.

Propecia: This medication, also known off-brand as finasteride, is the only product that I know that truly genuinely works to regrow hair. It is a prescription pill that contains a synthetic anti-androgen, which blocks DHT internally. It was originally approved in 1992 as a drug for the prostate, but it was found that a small dose (1 mg) blocks male pattern baldness. I use it myself, so I know it works. It is only for males, however.

Natural supplements: We recommend these products, but do not sell them ourselves. These are any combination of chemicals and enzymes and proteins that your body may need more of to promote healthy hair growth. The one that has been really popular is Biosil. This has an active ingredient called silicon and the principle is that it strengthens the collagen in your hair, skin and nails, causing these to grow back better, healthier and stronger.

The way we know about this product is we have had five celebrity female clients tell us about Biosil and its effectiveness. They come in and tell you that their hair is coming back thicker and stronger, so I started trying it too and noticed results. I’m my own guinea pig. Several formulas have been on the market. According to the FDA, you can’t make medical claims about these supplements to say that they regrow hair, but you can say that they make hair appear stronger and thicker.

Viviscal is another natural supplement that uses a combination of vitamins and fish oil to strengthen hair. Shen Min is a formula that combines herbs like He Shou Wu and Horse Chestnut Extract with co-factor nutrients such as Silica, Biotin and Saw Palmetto. I am sure they all have benefits. You just have to believe and stick with it.

The biggest problem clients have is sticking with the program. We live in instant society, but that’s not how it works with hair loss. You have to stay on these products for a long time before you notice real results. You have to take your before and after shots and monitor your success. If you stick with one or a combination of these alternatives, you can reverse hair loss.

After pregnancy, many people will find that new skin has appeared. This new hanging type of skin is called a skin tag. It almost looks like a raised mole but bigger, saggier, and droopier. The skin tag actually hangs from a part of the body such as the neck, the eyelid, or the armpits.

Skin tags are usually the color of the skin or slightly darker. The wrinkled piece of skin usually starts flat against the skin and then grows so that it hangs from the skin. Skin tags can be as small as a pinhole or as big as a grape.

Skin tags appear on pregnant or recently pregnant women due to the production of extra hormones. The majority of the people tend to develop skin tags in middle to later adulthood, but it may appear in some children as well. Do these individuals have to live with the skin tags forever? not necessarily.

What is Skin Tag Removal?

Skin tags are usually found in healthy individuals. Skin tags is not skin cancer and does not turn into skin cancer. Normally people want them removed not for health reasons but instead for vanity reasons and self-esteem.

The skin tags are normally found in places where the clothing rubs against the skin. These places include groin area, neck, armpits, and even under the female breasts. The clothing rubbing against the skin tag normally irritates the skin tag.

Skin tags sometimes fall off without the help of a professional. If an individual does go to a dermatologist for removal, the removal will depend on the size and area of the growth. The growth can be removed either by cutting, freezing, or burning. Freezing of the skin tag is called cryotherapy and involves liquid nitrogen. Burning involves medical electric cautery. Topical or injected anesthesia can be used during the removal process.

Dermatologists usually tend to the removal but some times another professional may step in. If the skin tag is located near or on the eyelid, then an ophthalmologist may perform the removal.

Who is the Best Candidate for Skin Tag Removal?

The most obvious answer to this question would be anyone who has a skin tag. Removal of the skin tag can cause less irritation and boost a person’s self-esteem. Having skin growths on apparent places on the body can make people feel less attractive. Having the skin tag removed can lift the person’s level of confidence.

Some people do not feel the need to have the skin tag removed. This may be due to the fact that it does not irritate the person, it does not twist or rub up against clothing, and may not be even big enough to be noticeable. In this case, individuals may opt not to have the removal.

Candidates looking into skin tag removal should be in good health, not only physically but also emotionally and psychologically. They should also have realistic expectations and explore all procedures.

Benefits

Envision having a piece of loose skin which twists and turns, cutting off blood supply. Maybe the loose skin is located in a place on the body which often gets aggravated by clothing. Jewelry may also snag onto or twist the skin tag. The benefit of having the skin tag removed is the freedom of knowing that you will not be irritated or in pain anymore.

For others, the biggest benefit of having the skin tag removed is because of vanity. Some people have the skin tags on their face and find that when they have them removed they feel so much more attractive. They actually may find it easier to look into the mirror. As with any other removal or plastic surgery these days, people do it for the simple reason of beauty.

Risks

While scissor removal removes the skin tag immediately, there are some disadvantages. During this procedure, the area is cut and needs to be stitched. Afterwards, the individual should follow aftercare instructions accordingly so as to not create a risk for infection. Minor bleeding may follow this procedure.

Individuals who decide on freezing or cauterizing may be at risk for:

Discoloration of the area.

Need for repetitive treatments.

Skin tag not falling off, therefore having to opt for another procedure.

While risks are not major when it comes to removing skin tags, these are some which you need to be aware of. As with any medical procedure, consultation should be made with your doctor to ensure the best possible outcome.

Those in search of a change in appearance, who have no need to commit to a serious procedure like plastic surgery, should consider scheduling a visit to their favorite salon. A trip to the salon can leave a person feeling refreshed, revitalized, and beautiful. If it is time for something new, track down a few recommendations and book an appointment with a talented hair specialist.

What Is It?

A variety of services are available at most salons. Some places offer only hair cutting and styling, but others offer a full menu of services, all of which require special training. It is possible to perform many of these procedures at home, but the results often last longer and have a more professional appearance when performed at a salon. The following is a list of services and descriptions most frequently found at hair salons.

Dye
This is all-over, permanent color, capable of covering gray hair and dramatically altering the natural color of hair. Those wishing to lighten their hair dramatically may need to have the original, dark shade stripped or bleached prior to the application of the final hue.

Tint
A tint is semi-permanent all over color. It usually lasts 5 to 8 weeks, but sometimes washes out within a few shampooings. Tinting is gentler than dye, but as a result, may not cover gray hair as fully as dye. A benefit of tint is that it is not as noticeable as dye when hair begins to grow out.

Highlights
This procedure colors portions, strands, or chunks of your hair. It lightens the color of the hair and, if done properly, enhances a person’s skin tone.

Lowlights
Similar to highlights, this colors portions, strands, or chunks darker than the original color. It is often used to compliment highlights. This procedure helps to blend dark roots and adds depth to hair. A color expert from Ivillage, an online women’s resource, suggests having lowlights every third time you have your hair highlighted.

Perm
Perm, short for permanent wave or permanent straightening, is a way to add or remove curl from hair. When done professionally, results typically last 2 to 6 months. There are several options for curl ranging from body and wave to tight, corkscrew curls. The procedure works best on hair that is otherwise untreated.

Cut
This is the most common salon procedure and is the shaping of hair through clipping. It may include a typical blunt cut of inches off of hair, razor cutting which many stylists believe adds texture, or the thinning of hair with a device that slices into hair and reduces its thickness.

Style
Styling typically finishes a cut or other procedure. It involves drying, usually with an air dryer, as well as brushing, combing, and often the application of styling products. It is highly recommended that your hair be styled prior to leaving the salon. This serves two purposes. One, you can learn from the stylist how best to work with your new cut, and two, it assures a quality cut and gives you a chance to evaluate the look in the presence of the stylist. Those attending a formal event may book a special style such as professional braiding or an up-do.

Who Needs It

Everyone! If you are in need of a change, you are bored with your current appearance, your hair is hard to style, or you need to touch up those gray hairs, one of many salon services may be your answer. Those who are planning a big night out or preparing for a big event like a wedding or the prom will want to schedule their service well in advance so they are sure to fit their visit to the salon into their otherwise busy day.

Benefits

The greatest benefit of a salon service is the professional appearance of a new style. The salon experience can be relaxing and is a great way to reward yourself for a special achievement like weight loss, a new job or promotion, or the birth of a child. It offers the opportunity to change your appearance in a way that can be dramatic, but is more cost effective and safer than a surgical cosmetic procedure. Visiting a hair salon is a great shared experience for a mother-daughter day or a girlfriend getaway. Some women plan a visit to the salon for their bridal party on the day of the wedding. Many salons offer package deals that are great for these occasions. Services may include color, cut, and style, as well as a manicure, pedicure, and facial.

Some women enjoy visiting the stylist as a therapeutic experience. Salon technicians have long offered a friendly ear to those suffering emotional distress and the troubles of everyday life. Salon services offer lasting results than the same services done at home. Coloring or cutting hair at home can be messy and can cause permanent damage to towels, clothing, and vanities. When done in a salon, there is no clean-up and less chance of drips and spotting on the skin. Anyone who has accidentally dyed their hair or forehead before a big night out will appreciate the professional care of a licensed colorist.

Risks

Few risks are associated with a hair salon visit, but include allergic reactions to the products, displeasure with the result, or more expense than you were anticipating.

In addition to a utilitarian event for a special occasion, visiting a hair salon is a great solution to fighting the blues. If you feel you need a change find a qualified, professional hair salon and book an appointment.

A European facial simply includes extraction, exfoliation, and massage. The first step to the facial is cleaning the face. The cleaning process helps remove makeup and dirt from the face leaving a clean “canvas.” The next step would be extraction. Extraction involves removal of blackheads, whiteheads, and any other impurities within the face. This usually involves the spa professional using a magnifying glass to help him with the extraction process. During this process, pimples are also treated, according to Valerie D. Callender, M.D., medical director at the SKin and Laser Center in Mitchellville, Maryland.

The next step is the exfoliation process. During the exfoliation, the skin is exfoliated. This means that the older and dead skin cells are removed. This can be done through mechanical or chemical devices. Mechanical means that the spa professional will scrub your face with an abrasive treatment.

Chemical process uses scrubs to exfoliate the skin which contain salicylic acids, glycolic acids, fruit enzymes, citric acids, or malic acids. In low doses, this can be done by the spa professional using over-the-counter treatments. When chemicals are used in high doses, it is best to have this done by a dermatologist.

A soothing mask is also placed upon the client’s face. This mask is actually picked using the client’s skin type. The client’s skin type may be dry, oily, sensitive, or a combination skin type.

The European facial usually ends with a face, neck, and shoulder massage. The massage helps relieve tension in the body allowing for a better blood flow and circulation.

Who is a Good Candidate for European Facials?

The best candidate for a European facial would be one who is in good physical and psychological health. People who need minimal treatment on their skin and pores such as removal of minor blackheads and whiteheads would make for better candidates. Clients who have severe acne problems would be better off seeing a dermatologist. That’s because European facials may even cause more breakouts, making medicinal treatments a better option.

If you are unsure if you are a good candidate for a European facial, you should consult with your physician as well as a dermatologist. Try looking into several spas before choosing one to have your procedure. Make a list of pros and cons of each, allowing you to get a better visual of the spa with the most benefits and the least potential for risks.

Benefits

Benefits include removal of impurities of the skin such as whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples. It also includes the removal of embedded dirt under the skin. After a European facial, the face feels renewed and youthful. Circulation and blood flow is better leaving the feeling of being tired, stress, and tense behind.

With the rejuvenated you, comes a lift in confidence. Having a “perfect” face to look back at in the mirror gives you a better sense of self as well as higher self-esteem. The detoxification process of the skin also gives you healthier skin..

Risks

You probably think that no risks are involved with getting your face “really cleaned.” But, when you have your face poked and prodded as well as cleaned and picked at, it leaves your skin open for infection. Extracting the unhealthy dirt from the skin leaves pores open and ready for infection to set in.

If your spa professional is not careful, you may be at risk for not only infection but for scarring of the face as well. To ensure that you have the best possible outcome after your European facial, choose the spa site wisely. Make a few trips beforehand, asks previous customers about their experience, and evaluate the cleanliness level of the spa as well.

While risks are few and far between, they are possible. To ensure minimal risks, you must also follow any after-care directions. After the procedure, if you are feeling any pain, discomfort, or you think there may be infection they should consult a doctor immediately.

Many people “shape up” their bodies without ever hitting the gym. Does this make them cheaters or are they smarter than all the rest of us who put our blood, sweat , and tears into workouts which seem to never have the end result we are looking for.

Many people also look to cosmetic procedures to help them regain their youth back. Again, are they cheating or are they just ahead of the game? One company which offers both no-exercise shaping up of the body and facial rejuvenation methods is Arasys Perfector, Inc.

This company claims to go beyond the botox and lasers to help accomplish a younger and healthier appearance. This company used non-invasive electrodermal aesthetics to help create the Arasys and the Perfector.

The Arasys claims to help clients rapidly lose inches as well as build muscles without ever having to step foot in the gym. The Perfector claims to bring a client’s younger facial features back as it rejuvenates the skin and allows for a non-invasive face lift.

These are pretty big claims that this company makes which makes us wonder is it all real or are we just being fooled by another product being offered at the spa?

What is the Arasys?

Remember the pacemaker? The Arasys was actually created by the co-inventor of the pacemaker, Gerry Pollock. The Arasys lets clients to obtain the gym physique without getting up at dawn to run the treadmill or meet up with the trainer.

The Arasys contains up to 1,000 frequencies of high definition signals. The system does not look to encourage muscles instead it aims at the nerves. The nerves which are stimulated during workouts are aroused during the Arasys treatment, allowing the body to “think” it has been working out.

Arasys treatments include, according to Arasys Perfector, LLC, an online resource:

200 Hz:
–Accelerates muscle building
–Increases stamina
–Boosts strength and performance
–Developed for athletes and body builders
–Power detoxification

400 Hz:
–Inch loss
–Tightens abs
–Contours buttocks
–Promotes healthy lymphatic drainage

600 Hz:
–Tightening loose skin (such as after liposuction)
–Breast enhancement
–Revitalizes the body
–Reduces the appearance of cellulite

1000Hz:
–Skin rejuvenation
–Skin toning

(retrieved from www.arasysperfectorusa.com)

What is the Perfector?

Clients looking for a facelift without the surgery may want to opt for the Perfector. This procedure claims to renew skin as it also helps to lift sagging muscles, rebuild tissue, and bring back a healthy glowing appearance. High definition waves are used repair tissue and help bring back a healthy glow.

A thin layer of gel is applied to the area of the face being treated. Then the Perfector, which looks like two metal chopsticks, is then stroked across the area being treated. The Perfector sends signals to the brain and nerves helping for easy stimulation of tissue and muscles.

The nine programs which are offered by Perfector include:

Oxygenation

Regeneration

Lift

Sculpting

Firming

Rejuvenation

Deep cleansing

Detox

Ionization

Who are the Best Candidates?

The best candidates for treatment of either the Arasys or the Perfector will be in optimal psychological and physical health. They will have also consulted with their physician beforehand to ensure that these treatments are safe to undergo.

Those looking to tighten their bodies will be good candidates for the Arasys procedure. One treatment is supposedly the equivalent of 300 to 400 sit ups. Clients wishing to perfect their physique without the gym or undergoing surgery would be great candidates for the Arasys.

Clients looking to have a face lift without the hassle, price, or discomfort of surgery would make good candidates for the Perfector. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and women who have recently given birth may not be good candidates. These women should consult with their physician as well as their obstetrician to ensure safety.

What are the Benefits?

Claimed benefits for the Arasys include:

Inch Loss Treatment: The machine works to tighten muscles and rid yourself of inches. While wraps rid the body of excess water, the Inch Loss treatment actually helps you lose inches from your body. Claims have been made that clients have lost usually 2 to 5 inches from one treatment. The procedure is not painful nor is it uncomfortable.

Cellulite Removal Treatment & Breast/Body Lift Treatment: While the Inch Loss treatment worked to tighten your muscles, this treatment works to create muscles. This helps with lifting breasts, toning the body, underarm toning, and lifting the buttocks.

Detoxification: The Arsys is shown to actually detoxify the body of unhealthy toxins. Galvanic currents are used to help detoxify the body to ensure a cleansing process. Toxins can cause premature wrinkles, sagging, and even disease.

One important benefit of not having to workout at the gym is that the body does not require glucose during these treatments. When an individual works out at the gym glucose levels or better known as sugar levels drop, which is why we are so drained and tired after a workout. With the Arasys, the body is burning fat cells without touching glucose levels.

Claimed benefits for the Perfector include:

Better blood circulation

Blood vessels increase

Decrease in wrinkles

Collagen and elastic increased

Face muscles lifted

Tissue repaired

Skin PH balance

Sun damage reduction

Pigmentation decreased

Pores decreased in size

Inflammation and edema reduced

Impurities in skin removed

Removal of toxins

Puffy eyes reduced

Risks

There is little risk with both the Arasys and Perfector. The one thing which may be of slight discomfort after your Arasys treatment is nausea and the feeling of dehydration. It is recommended that the client drinks plenty of water beforehand as it will give the impression of a workout, tired and needing plenty of water afterwards. This result will vary based on client.

Other than that, the risks are minimal. Oh, wait there is one other risk. What if you are not among the people who lose those 30 inches after 12 treatments or still look exactly the same after 8 sessions with the Perfector? Well then, you did not get your monies’ worth.

As with any procedure, results will vary and you take the chance that you will have a better end result than most. Treatments cost $100 to $250 per session normally. So if you are looking at 10 sessions with only one problem area, your risk losing a couple of thousand dollars.

On the other hand, if the results are great, you may want to keep going back to get more treatments for other problems areas. In this case, you risk losing your bank account…but you will look fabulous.

Some people find it a pain in the neck to look at themselves in the mirror only to see an unsightly neck. The neck may be loose for reasons including genetics, weight loss, or even the aging process. Whatever the reason may be, some may wonder is there anything they can do about it.

A neck lift may be the answer you are looking for. Many celebrities have undergone neck lifts including supermodel Janice Dickinson. According to US Magazine, Janice Dickinson had a neck lift in 2007 along with a tummy tuck. While we may not all be in the limelight like Dickinson, don’t we all deserve to put our best neck forward?

What is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift usually includes two separate procedures. These procedures are cervicoplasty and platysmaplasty. Cervicoplasty removes the excess skin around the neck while the platysmaplasty changes or removes the neck muscles.

The rolls of skin on your neck are caused by weakened neck muscles and the solution may be platysmaplasty. The platysma is the neck muscle which the surgeon works on to help achieve a smoother looking neck. Openings are usually made near the chin or behind the ears. The doctor then maneuvers the neck muscles around to help the neck retain a younger look. This may mean that the muscles are moved around or even some removed completely.

Less invasive procedures are now available which involve smaller incisions and the use of a endoscope by the doctor. During the procedure, anesthesia would be used and you can even request to be put to sleep, depending on your comfort level.

If extra skin around the neck is an issue, then you may consider a cervicoplasty. During this procedure, the doctor will make small incisions near the ears, cut away loose skin, and lift the remaining skin into place. This leaves the appearance of tighter skin. The skin would be put back into place using stitches or glue.

Both of these procedures can take anywhere from two to fours hours individually. In addition some people opt to also have liposuction or botox of the neck to help with the younger appearance. Depending on the your needs, consultation with the doctor will help set up a neck lift plan suitable for yout.

Who are the Best Candidates of Neck Lifts?

The best candidates would be in the best possible physical and mental well-being. Candidates should have realistic expectations and goals of the neck lift. If a candidate goes in with unrealistic expectations after the neck lift, he could end up having regrets as well as feeling depressed.

Patients should stop using bloodthinning medications and vitamins beforehand as these can increase bleeding after the surgery.

Smokers should stop smoking two weeks prior to the neck lift and continue not smoking for two weeks after the surgery. Smoking can hurt your chances of healing appropriately. You should also maintain healthy eating habits and expect to spend at least one to two weeks in recovery mode.

Benefits

The most obvious benefits from a neck lift would be a more attractive neck. The skin of the neck would be tighter, firmer, and younger looking. This would not only boost your looks but also boost your self-esteem. The neck lift can help you look thinner without having to lose any weight or work at facial or neck exercises.

Risks

While neck lifts are on the less risky side, they do come with some risks as any surgery would. Major risks would include scarring, infections, and results which do not please the client.

Risks of course can be reduced as long as the patient follows before and after care directions as well as sees a licensed professional for the procedure. Some things which a patient should have in the house after the surgery which can help reduce risks include:

Petroleum jelly for the incisions

Ice

Gauze

Thermometer (If fever is present there may be infection, call doctor immediately)

Button-down shirts so that you do not have to remove clothing over the neck

Telephone within reach in case of emergency

Someone should stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery

Risks are few as long as you follow doctor’s orders.

Anybody who has eaten too many carrots and turned orange as a result knows that a person’s skin can look great or terrible based on what one eats. What we eat in our diet affects not only the hue of the body’s largest organ, but also how it functions. This list will help guide you on the most healthy foods for your skin.

Whole Grain Products

Refined or “white” products have had the bran of the grain kernel removed during processing. This gives the product (such as flour) a whiter appearance, and removing the bran also takes away essential vitamins and minerals contained in the bran that the skin needs. One such nutrient is selenium. This substance is believed to be crucial to skin health in that it prevents skin cells from being harmed by the sun. Instead of having a piece of white bread toast with breakfast, swap in some wheat bread, or try an oatmeal muffin or a bowl of whole grain cereal instead.

Fish

In the past, some nutritional experts advised against eating large amounts of fish due to the fear of mercury contamination. However, mercury contamination has been lowered and many fish now are raised on fish “farms.” This is great news, because fish are excellent sources of fatty acids, the most well-known of which are omega 3 and omega 6. These fatty acids help build super strong cell membranes. In the skin, this makes all the difference because a strong cell membrane means that water can be better contained within the skin cell. This minimizes the appearance of lines and wrinkles because the water plumps up the cells. One of the best fish for obtaining fatty acids is salmon. Fatty acids also can be found in nuts like almonds or in seeds.

Berries, Fruits, and Vegetables

Berries, fruits, and vegetables often are good sources of fiber, but they also contain high amounts of antioxidants. Antioxidants are known for their anti-aging properties. In the skin, antioxidants help prevent damage to the skin cells from free radicals. Some of the best foods to eat in this category include plums and blueberries. Additionally, foods like oranges or other citrus fruits are high in vitamin C, while spinach is high in vitamin E. According to The Dermatology Blog, a blog on skincare, vitamin C is crucial to the skin because it is involved in the formation of collagen. Vitamin E improves softness and protects from sun damage.

Dairy Products

One of the worst problems for the skin is excessive production of sebum. This oily substance is produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin and is meant to make the skin somewhat waterproof and to protect the skin. However, sebum gets into pores and blocks them, causing acne. Vitamin A helps limit the production of sebum, so it’s one of the most important vitamins for clear skin. It’s found in dairy products such as low-fat yogurt.

Sample Meal Plan

Getting foods from the groups mentioned above doesn’t have to be difficult. For instance, even for people on the go, breakfast can be a granola bar with orange juice. For lunch, have a yogurt with blueberries, washed down with some milk. Grilled salmon on a bed of spinach can be a great dinner, especially if topped with a few sunflower seeds or almonds. Even if you can’t get foods from every group at every meal, your skin still will benefit from having them throughout the day. As an added bonus, the foods in these groups generally are low in fat. This means you will be consuming fewer calories and more than likely will be able to maintain or lose weight, leading to an overall healthier you.
