Church and other groups often look for the perfect spot to host a short getaway. Carol and David Bryant are owners of Eden Crest Properties, LLC, based in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg areas of eastern Tennessee. Here, they discuss why their area is ideal for church retreats in particular.
We host a lot of church groups, couples retreats, youth groups and groups that just want to get away and maybe spend some time meditating or having a special course on a specific topic. Our area is perfect for church retreats in particular, as the local attractions available are all known for their wholesome, family feel – and are suitable for everyone.
Entertainment For Everyone
There are lots of entertainment facilities around for groups who want entertainment to be part of the package. The Dollywood theme park, for example, is nearby. Dolly Parton has lent her name to it although it is actually owned by a group of investors. And there are plenty of rides for the kids and shows inside the parl. There are also scores of artisans who make things by hand.
Groups who come to us can take advantage of our clubhouse, where they can be hosted. Then they are welcome to take full advantage of all the activities in the area, such as hiking, horseback riding, bungee jumping – you name it. We also have picnic areas and outdoor bonfire areas where groups can gather at night in the fresh air. Often church groups conduct devotional services outdoors in the nearby national parks.
Perfect for Any Size
Groups that come to us vary in size, a small group maybe has 10 to 15 people, while a large group can have anywhere from 300 to 400. We have accommodation for about 300 and we are a growing company. So over time we will be able to host even larger groups. If the group is too large, we team with a hotel for the overflow.
We would recommend the area, and our cabins in particular, because of the solitude and the beauty that surrounds them. Also, it goes without saying that the atmosphere you get when you stay in a log home is unique.
